Suspected intruder found hiding in garden

A man has been arrested after police found a suspected intruder hiding in a garden in Rainworth.

Police were called to Whittaker Road at around 1.30am on Tuesday 4 August after homeowners found a man on their landing.

The residents chased him out of the house before contacting police.

Officers searched the nearby area and believed the suspect may have been hiding in gardens off Cambridge Road.

They later found a man in a garden in nearby Woodpecker Drive.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Police praised the response officers for tracking down the suspect quickly in dark and difficult conditions.
