Labour's Claire Ward claims victory in first ever East Midlands Mayoral election

The Labour candidate beat Mansfield's conservative MP Ben Bradley into second place with a majority of 51,708 seats.

Claire Ward who was previously the MP for Watford is currently a Non Executive Director of Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust and was appointed chair in October 2021. 

It's understood she is now likely to step down from that position to concentrate on her new role. 

The full results of the vote are as follows; 

Claire Ward (Labour) 181,040

Ben Bradley (Co)129,332

Frank Adlington-Stringer (Green) 50,666

Alan Graves (Reform) 49,201

Matt Relf (In) 23,359 

Helen Tamblyn-Saville (LD) 15,970 (3.6%)

Mansfield MP Ben Bradley, who is also the leader of Notts County Council, spoke to Mansfield 103.2's Tony Delaunty straight after the declaration and said he was disappointed with the result but proud of his team.
