Mansfield MP Steve Yemm says extra funding for post-16 education will mean more opportunities for young people in the town.
The MP has welcomed the Government’s decision to fully guarantee in-year growth funding for 16-to-19 education this academic year.
He says the funding is already helping West Nottinghamshire College respond to demand and offer more students their first-choice course.
Yemm has written jointly with the college’s principal and chief executive, Andrew Cropley, to thank the Education Secretary.
The letter says the decision gives colleges clarity and confidence to support young people into education and training.
West Nottinghamshire College says the announcement is particularly welcome at a time of strong demand for post-16 education in Mansfield.
