A girl remains in a critical condition after police found her next to a dead body at an address in Northern Ireland – with a man arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
The body of a man was found on Saturday in Dungannon, County Tyrone, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said.
A woman with non-life-threatening injuries was also at the property.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received an emergency call just after 11am on Saturday and took the girl to the Royal Belfast Hospital for sick children.
On Sunday, police confirmed that the child remains in a critical condition, while the woman has been released from hospital. The suspect remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Philip Robinson said: "It would be inappropriate to comment further and I would ask that the public avoid speculation until we can provide further updates.
"However, I want to reassure the public that we do not believe that there is any ongoing risk, and at this stage we are not seeking anyone else in relation to the deaths.
"Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of those involved."
A terraced house was sealed off at the scene in Lisnahull Road, and a number of officers and police cars were in attendance.
A forensic officer was seen at the property with an evidence bag, and police urged members of the public to avoid the area.
Sinn Fein councillor Deirdre Varsani said on Saturday that there was a "strong police presence" in the area.
She went on: "There appears to be a strong sense of shock and trauma and again we ask people to be respectful of the news that might be coming out, and if you have any information, even the smallest piece of information, to please pass that on to police."
