British woman dies after stabbing at train station in Germany

A 31-year-old British woman has died after being stabbed at a train station in Germany, police say.

Officers were called to the scene early on Sunday following a report a woman had been attacked with a knife at Rosenheim railway station and was seriously injured.

She was taken to hospital where she later died.

A 27-year-old German man was arrested at the scene in the Bavarian city on suspicion of carrying out the attack.

It is not yet clear whether the man and the woman were known to each other.

Police said in a statement: "In the early hours of Sunday at around 12.50am, the Rosenheim integrated control centre received a report that a woman had been attacked with a knife and seriously injured at Rosenheim railway station.

"Federal police officers were able to provisionally arrest the suspected attacker - a 27-year-old German national from the district of Furstenfeldbruck - immediately after the incident, whilst he was still at the scene.

"The victim, a 31-year-old British national, was taken to hospital for further treatment but died as a result of her serious injuries."
