One of Mansfield's best-known D-Day veterans has died at the age of 103.
Ted Rutland received the Legion d'Honneur for his wartime service and was a long-standing Royal British Legion standard-bearer.
Mansfield Mayor Andy Abrahams has paid tribute following his death.
"Just a few weeks ago, I popped in to see him with my grandson to wish him a happy 103rd birthday. He was off to St Mark's church with Mrs Seales. It was my great honour to award Ted a mayoral commendation on his 100th birthday for his services to his country and the Royal British Legion, for whom Ted was the standard-bearer into his 90s. Ted passed away peacefully."
