Ten dead in Mexico shooting

Gunmen killed at least 10 people in Mexico's east-central Puebla state, authorities have said.

The victims - a child, three women and six men - were shot in the early hours of Sunday in the town of Tehuitzingo, authorities said.

Puebla's public security agency pledged "zero impunity" for the killings and said intelligence gathering is under way to identify the motive for the attack.

State and federal officials are investigating the case, but did not say whether there were any suspects.

Puebla's governor, Alejandro Armenta, has yet to comment on the attack.

This is the third armed attack in the state of Puebla this year. In February, six people were killed in the city of Huehuetlan El Grande. Days later, three people died in Puebla's capital, after an attack on their vehicle.

It comes as cartel violence is on the rise in central Mexico, forcing between 800 and 1,000 families to flee their homes.
