Suspect in court charged with murder after death of man found unresponsive in Dundonald street

A suspect has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in South Ayrshire.

Graham Milliken, 57, was found injured and unresponsive in Dundonald's Main Street at about 4.05am on Sunday.

Emergency crews attended and transported Mr Milliken to University Hospital Crosshouse, where he died a short time later.

Police Scotland launched a murder investigation following a post-mortem examination.

Alastair Steven, 36, was arrested and charged in connection with Mr Milliken's death.

The suspect appeared before Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, where he made no plea to the single charge of murder.

Steven, of South Ayrshire, was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.

Detective Inspector Jamie Carruth earlier said officers would remain in the area while inquiries continue and urged anyone with information to get in touch.

He said: "We would be interested to hear from anyone who may have dashcam or doorbell footage, or anyone who may have heard a disturbance in the area that night to contact us.

"Officers remain in the area and anyone with any information or concerns can approach them."
