Seven arrested as police investigate Southall murder

Police have begun a murder investigation and and made seven arrests after a man was knifed to death in Southall, west London.

Officers were called at 12.41am on Wednesday morning, by the London Ambulance Service following reports of a stabbing on North Road.

Police and paramedics found that two men had been injured.

Despite efforts to save him, one of the men, in his 20s, who had suffered a knife wound, was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries to trace his next-of-kin are ongoing.

Seven men, aged from their early 20s to late 30s, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder. Six remain in police custody.

The seventh man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital, where he remains, police said.

His condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Denby from the Metropolitan Police, who is leading the investigation, said: "My thoughts remain with the loved ones of the man who has died."

He said: "We believe that the two men suffered wounds during an altercation outside a property on North Road.

"There is a large police cordon in place on North Road and surrounding streets. This is likely to remain while our enquiries continue, and I want to thank residents for their patience."

Police have also asked for anyone who was in the area at the time or who has CCTV footage of what occurred to get in touch.
