McLaren supercar owner banned after crashing into motorhome

A man who ploughed his McLaren into a motorhome - in a crash that closed the A12 - has been given a six month driving ban.

On 12 November 2023 Oliver Strickland-Miller, 41, of Ringshall, Suffolk, lost control of his McLaren 720S.

Those involved in the collision on the A12 near Lower Hacheston, Suffolk, suffered minor injuries.

The 720S model can cost more than £200k and accelerate as quickly as 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds.

After pleading guilty to careless driving, Strickland-Millar was sentenced at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Wednesday 21 January. He was summonsed to court after rejecting a driver improvement course.

PC William Hudson who led the investigation said: "Strickland-Miller was extremely lucky that this collision didn't lead to more serious injuries.

"His car was badly damaged, while the victim's motorhome was left on its side with debris strewn across the road, closing a major transport route.

"This must have been very frightening for those involved and for anyone who witnessed the incident.

"Hopefully the severity of the incident, alongside the driving ban and costs, will be a much-needed reminder of the importance of driving safely for the driver and for all road users."
