Mondo Duplantis: Pole vaulter sets 15th world record as he registers jump of 6.31m in Sweden

Pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis added another centimetre to his world record after he cleared 6.31 metres in Sweden on Thursday.

Olympic and world champion Duplantis set four new world pole vault records in 2025 along with winning all 16 of his competitions and has picked up where he left off in the new year.

This time Duplantis opened with 5.65m at his own event, the Mondo Classic, before he scaled 5.90m and then 6.08m. The best was saved until last by the American-born Swedish athlete after he registered a jump of 6.31m in Uppsala.

"I am so proud to have been able to do this in front of you," Duplantis told the crowd.

"I jump for myself, I jump for my family, but I also jump for you, for Sweden, and for everyone who supports me."

Sondre Guttormsen of Norway placed second after clearing 6.00m, marking his second successful six-metre vault this season.

Americans Zachery Bradford and Sam Kendricks and Australia's Kurtis Marschall each cleared 5.90m to finish third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Before Duplantis' run, the world record had been held by Renaud Lavillenie of France who jumped 6.16m in 2014.
