By Jenness Mitchell, Scotland reporter

A man suspected of murdering two men in Glasgow is dead.

Paul Lafferty, 50, and Gary Beaton, 54, were found with serious injuries at a property in Chancellor Street in the Partick area of the city on 16 August.

They were pronounced dead at the scene, with Police Scotland subsequently launching a murder inquiry following post-mortem examinations.

In an update on Tuesday, the force said a 38-year-old man was found seriously injured beneath Glasgow's George V Bridge on 17 August.

Emergency crews attended, but the man was pronounced dead.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Following extensive enquiries, officers have since established if this man was alive today, police would have sought to arrest him in connection with the murders of Paul Lafferty and Gary Beaton in Glasgow."

After the double murder, detectives visited more than 170 properties as part of "extensive" door-to-door enquiries and seized more than 4,000 hours' worth of CCTV footage.

The Police Scotland spokesperson added: "An investigation remains ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

"The families continue to be supported by specialist officers."
