Family pay tribute to man shot dead while sitting in car in Camden as Met police hunt suspect

The family of a man shot dead in London on Saturday while sitting in his car have paid tribute to him.

Nahom Medhanie, 26, was killed near Euston station by a suspect on a bike, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

Officers were called at around 11pm on Saturday to Chalton Street, Camden, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A tribute released by his family via police said: "Nahom was more than a son and a brother to us, and since his passing, it has been the hardest days of our lives.

"He was funny, honest and would just light up the room with his presence and that's what we loved most about him."

Police said he had been formally identified following a post-mortem on Tuesday.

The force said CCTV showed that Nahom was sitting in a white Nissan Juke, when he was shot several times.

The suspect arrived and left on a bike, and no arrests have yet been made.

A man told the Press Association on Sunday that one of his colleagues heard "a loud bang a few times".

On Sunday, forensic teams were seen on their hands and knees on the pavement, examining the scene for evidence. Flowers had also been left nearby.

Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke said: "We are aware of the concern that this will cause for the local community, and want to reassure them that we are working hard to identify the attacker and bring them to justice."

The Met has appealed for dash cam or other video footage.
