Mansfield's old Granada cinema set to feature on TV

A local history website put together by Mansfield 103.2’s Programme Controller Ian Watkins about Mansfield’s old Granada Cinema has been discovered by the UK’s biggest independent TV channel

Talking Pictures TV are going to use some of the content from thegranadamansfield.co.uk website for their programme Footage Detectives, which will be aired on Sunday at 5pm (110824).

Former Projectionist Malcolm Appleby put together a cine film of a new cinema assistant manager arriving in Mansfield back in 1960 and it’s that footage which will be given it’s television premiere at the weekend.

The cinema was demolished in 1973 and played host to many 60s stars, including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield and The Kinks.
