The NHS Needs You
Obviously with the current lockdown situation throughout the UK there are no events taking place in our area but why not volunteer, the NHS needs help, they need 250,000 people to help with shopping, deliveries, assisting people that are at home shielding themselves to stay safe plus much more. Our NHS needs us, if they have ever treated you or a loved one now is the time you can repay them. If you are fit, healthy and well and can spare some time to help please fill in the online form. Simply search on the internet for NHS Volunteer Responders and you will see the page. Please help if you can at this national time of crisis.
At this time of crisis happening throughout the UK and Worldwide please don’t forget to help and support your neighbours. Keep an eye especially on elderly, disabled or vulnerable people living nearby. You may not be able to go into see them but a chat through a closed door or slightly open window at a safe distance of at least 2 metres might make all the difference to their day and could even save their life. Be kind and thoughtful of your local community at this time.

Pleasley Pit Visitors Centre – Volunteers Needed
Could you spare a few hours each week to help keep the Pleasley Pit Visitors Centre running?? They are mainly looking for help within the cafe whether it is serving customers, washing pots or cooking. They are also looking for other volunteers to assist with the nature reserve and the conservation of the site. There are all kinds of opportunities available. Do you think you could sing with the Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir? They are currently looking to recruit some new singers, both old and young voices to extend both their repertoire and their reach. The choir performs various times over the course of the year at a variety of functions and events. They recently celebrating their 75th anniversary year and would like some new voices to join them. Your local PDSA shop on Low Street in Sutton in Ashfield needs your donations of clothing, DVD’s. CD’s, bags, shoes etc. The PDSA are the UK’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity. Donations can be dropped off at the shop between 9.30am – 4pm Monday – Saturday; you can drive around to the back of the shop to drop larger donations off at their back door if you wish. Collections can be made locally but must be for 6 bin liners full or more to cover travel costs. Please support your local PDSA charity shop if you can.
The Millside Hospital Radio based at Kings Mill Hospital in Sutton in Ashfield is currently looking for volunteers. The radio station broadcasts 24 hours per day across the wards of the hospital and they are also online. They provide a wide variety of entertainment for inpatients at the hospital. The station is run completely by volunteers and they are currently looking for new radio presenters and other station staff to work behind the scenes. Full training will be given. Do you have time to be a volunteer?? Being a volunteer looks great on your CV, gives you experiences that last a lifetime and you make some great new friends. The Parkinson’s UK branch in Mansfield is looking for new volunteers to help them run the local branch. They offer support, provide information and put on activities for people with Parkinson’s living in the local area.
