Six changes for Bedford clash

Number eight Shane Buckley is one of six additions to Nottingham Rugby's starting line-up, for Saturday's Greene King IPA Championship clash with Bedford Blues at Goldington Road (3pm kick-off).

After last Sunday's home win over Richmond, Green and Whites head coach Ian Costello has been able to call upon the Irish back rower, who impressed in the opening rounds of the campaign, before suffering an injury which saw him miss out on Nottingham's last four league fixtures.

Prop Ben Hooper is selected for his first start for the club, after making his debut as a replacement last weekend, whist a fit-again Jimmy Stevens comes in at hooker, with TJ Harris, dropping to the bench.

Darryl Veenendaal is added at fly half, in place of the absent George Worth and the side-lined Will Millett. Nottingham Trent University students David Williams and Jack Spittle also feature at right wing and fullback respectively.

Fly half and fullback Will Sutton is promoted to the replacements bench, alongside prop Tom Heard and back rower Josh Poullet, who both started in the home victory over Richmond.

The Green and Whites will be looking to make it three wins in a row in league and cup, but will take on a Blues side that came out on top in both encounters between the two teams last season, securing a 28-19 win at Goldington Road in October 2015, followed by a last-gasp two-point victory at The Bay back in April, as tries from Paul Grant and Ben Woods, couldn't prevent Nottingham from suffering a 20-18 defeat.

Team to face Bedford Blues: 15) Jack Spittle, 14) David Williams, 13) Oli Evans, 12) Vili Hakalo, 11) James Stephenson, 10) Darryl Veenendaal, 9) Murray McConnell, 1) Kieran Davies, 2) Jimmy Stevens, 3) Ben Hooper, 4) Ben Morris (C), 5) Tom Holmes, 6) Rob Langley, 7) Jordan Coghlan, 8) Shane Buckley. Replacements: 16) TJ Harris, 17) Harry Morley, 18) Tom Heard, 19) Toby Freeman, 20) Matt Everard, 21) Josh Poullet, 22) Will Sutton.
