Kingsmill Hospital Highly Recommended
Women who have been routinely screened for breast cancer at King’s Mill Hospital say that they have been impressed by the service and would recommend screening to other women, according to the results of a recent patient satisfaction survey.
Data from the satisfaction survey, which asked patients about their experiences at their most recent breast screening appointment at King’s Mill Hospital, shows that, for the second year in a row, nine out of 10 women rated the service as being very good or good and would encourage other women to attend.
More than 80% of women that were asked also said they found the screening process to be more comfortable than they thought it would be and almost all said that they intended to come back when invited for their next routine screening.
One patient who shared feedback said: “The whole appointment was much more comfortable than I had anticipated.” Another said: “The staff were very respectful. I remember my first mammogram – it wasn’t a pleasant experience – but things have definitely changed for the better.
The survey asked almost 300 women who attended their routine breast screening appointment at King’s Mill Hospital in 2017 for their opinions and experiences.
Lead Radiographer at Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Penny Stinchcombe, said: “We’re very proud of the breast screening service that we offer to local ladies at King’s Mill Hospital so we are delighted that our patients’ experiences reflect this and continue to do so year-on-year.
“We have received many positive comments about the mammogram experience itself, with most women finding the whole experience much better than expected, which is pleasing to hear and we hope that it encourages more women to attend their screening appointments.
“Overall, the survey indicated that the breast screening team continue to deliver a positive, well-received service.
“Feedback from our service users is very important to us and we would always encourage women to tell us about their experiences. We are now looking at the results from the survey in more detail and to identify any areas where we can improve even further. It’s important to us that local women continue to feel comfortable and satisfied with the service that we offer so that they come back for these very important, and potentially life-saving, screenings.”
Other areas of the service that patients are impressed by include the staff, who they said are friendly and polite, the atmosphere in the waiting room, how easy it is to find the Breast Screening Unit and the amount of notice they received before their appointment.
