Home Secretary Visits Mansfield
Amber Rudd was in town yesterday to meet with MP Ben Bradley.
The Home Secretary spoke with Mr. Bradley on a number of issues including homelessness, Ms. Rudd told Mansfield 103.2 that she sees a town that is on the up, but went on to say, "We also talked about some of the challenging areas in terms of homelessness, anti-social behaviour and in terms of some people who are difficult to get of drugs, and we've come up with some plans and thoughts about where Mansfield can turn and where Ben can lead in terms of his strategy."
The pair visited local businesses before sitting down at the Civic Centre to discuss the town and its future. The Home Secretary also took the time to meet with Police in the area.
When asked why he thought it was important to bring the Home Secretary to Mansfield MP Ben Bradley said, "I think it's important that we raise our issues directly with government, to try and flag up what we can do on a local level, so it's great to be able to have that discussion directly with Amber today (Thursday 26 October)."
They both recognised the work of local homelessness charities.
Ben went on to say, "She's offered us various avenues in terms of best practice from other parts of the country and things we can go away and find out about and it's great to actually have a minister here taking an interest in Mansfield because it hasn't happened in a long time."
