Fly Half joins Nottingham whilst prop signs new deal
Nottingham Rugby have announced that fly half Tiff Eden has agreed a one-year deal with the club, signing on a permanent basis from Premiership side Worcester Warriors.
The 22 year-old number 10 will return to The Bay in the summer, following three separate spells with the Green & Whites, on a dual-registration deal with the Warriors.
Cheltenham-born Eden made his Nottingham debut at Yorkshire Carnegie back in February 2015 and went on to score 43 points, including seven conversions in a 49-32 victory over Moseley, before returning to Sixways at the end of the season.
New Green and Whites Head Coach Ian Costello then came calling for Eden at the start of the current campaign, with the fly half impressing in Nottingham's opening-day win over London Scottish before being recalled to Worcester the following week.
Eden has since returned to the club for his third spell at The Bay, appearing in Nottingham's last four matches, kicking at total of 20 points across all five Championship appearances this season.
Speaking about the qualities that persuaded the club to offer the promising half back a contract, Costello said: "We're very excited about having somebody of Tiff's calibre joining the squad.
"He has a strong pedigree, he's played for Worcester for a number of years, and he's played in, and won a British & Irish Cup final. He has a very strong, rounded skill-set, he's a very high-percentage goal kicker and has a lot of composure on the ball.
"He's very much a leader within the group. He really impressed us when he was here at the start of the season, so getting him back on loan, and then signing him for next year has been a massive coup for us."
Meanwhile, prop Kieran Davies is the next player to put pen to paper on a new one-year deal with Nottingham.
The 24 year-old loosehead has committed his future to the Green & Whites for at least another year, after arriving at The Bay from Exeter Chiefs in the summer of 2015.
The imposing and dependable front rower made 22 league & cup appearances in his first season at the club. An injury picked up in February's trip to Richmond then cut short Davies' 2016/17 campaign, but not before featuring a further 16 times in a Nottingham jersey.
Speaking about securing another important piece of the jigsaw for next season, head coach Ian Costello said: "We've stated that our vision has been around retaining a high percentage of our squad and we've managed to do that, and Kieran is one of the first names that we approached to sign.
"When we look at the profile of our squad, it's such a young team, to keep guys like Kieran on board for next year, I think will have a massive bearing on our development.
"Kieran's very experienced at this level, he's played a huge amount of rugby for Nottingham over the last couple of seasons. From a set-piece point of view, there's times when we've struggled this year and he's pivotal to that going forward. He's worked really hard on his game, on his conditioning and his profile and we're delighted that we've secured his services for next year."
Davies is now the thirteenth member of the Green & Whites squad to be confirmed for next season, with the club saying that many more re-signings and new signings will be announced over the coming days and weeks.
