Duo leave Nottinghamshire

Two of Nottinghamshire's backroom staff have left the club this week as it rebuilds following its relegation to Division Two in the County Championship.

Academy director Chris Tolley had been at Trent Bridge for two decades, starting as a player in 1996 before helping to set up the youth system in 2001.

He said: "It has been a difficult decision to leave Trent Bridge after twenty years, but I feel it is the right time in the knowledge that I leave a strong Academy with some fantastic young prospects.

"I would like to thank the Club for the opportunities it has afforded me, firstly as a player and more recently as Academy Director. I leave with some fond memories."

Meanwhile, assistant coach Wayne Noon is also leaving to pursue his ambitions in elite coaching.

He began playing for Notts in 1994 before taking a backroom role when he retired and eventually became deputy to Director of Cricket Mick Newell.

"This has been a big decision and not one that I have taken lightly,” he told the club's website.

"There have been many memorable moments at Notts, not least winning the County Championship in 2005 and 2010, and a Lord’s final in 2013.

"I’d like to make a special mention to Mick Newell – who signed me as a player and gave me my first coaching opportunity in 2002 – and to thank the Nottinghamshire public for their unwavering support. I wish the club every success in the future."
