Coming Soon – On 20th & 21st November at 7.30pm – “Legally Blonde – The Musical” – The New Youth Theatre Mansfield are proud to bring this heart warming, hilarious musical to the Mansfield Palace Theatre stage. A fabulously funny award winning musical based on the movie.

Volunteers Needed

The Millside Hospital Radio based at Kings Mill Hospital in Sutton in Ashfield is currently looking for volunteers. The radio station broadcasts 24 hours per day across the wards of the hospital and they are also online. They provide a wide variety of entertainment for inpatients at the hospital. The station is run completely by volunteers and they are currently looking for new radio presenters and other station staff to work behind the scenes. Full training will be given. So, if you fancy getting into radio or helping out behind the scenes why not join this fantastic friendly team and give them a helping hand. Christmas Fair

On Saturday 17th November from 10am – 12.30pm there is a Christmas Fair taking place at the John Eastwood Hospice on Mansfield Road in Sutton in Ashfield (just next to Kings Mill Hospital). There will be lots of festive fun on offer including a raffle, tombola, bric-a-brac stall, toy stall, cake stall and Christmas items will be on sale too. There will also be a fantastic Santa’s grotto for everyone to visit. Everyone is invited to join in the festive fun.

 

£1 Pop Up Shop

On both Saturday 17th and Saturday 24th November a local charity called The Forget Me Not Dementia Support Group  are opening a £1 pop up shop at The Hive in The Four Seasons Shopping Centre in Mansfield. All kinds of things will be on sale including knitted items which will include toys and tree decorations, handmade greeting cards and Christmas cards, brand new bric-a-brac items and lots more. Everyone is welcome to go along to the shop and grab a bargain whilst helping this fantastic charity support group to continue to thrive. 

 

Sherwood Observatory Open Evening

Sherwood Observatory on Coxmoor Road in Sutton in Ashfield are holding an open evening on Saturday 17th November starting at 6.45pm. Admission is £5 Adults, under 16’s are admitted for just £1 but must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Booking is not required, simply turn up on the night. You can use their powerful telescopes to see the moon in great detail as well as other treasures of the beautiful night sky (weather permitting). Onsite parking is available but limited. There are on site toilet facilities and hot and cold drinks will be available as well as astronomy themed merchandise on sale throughout the evening. The whole site is accessible by disabled visitors. Sutton Rambling Club – Why Not Join Them For A Walk??

On Sunday 18th November the Sutton Rambling Club will be walking around the delightful area of Elton and Youlgrave. A coach is available to take walkers to and from the walk, it picks up at The Staff of Life public house in Sutton in Ashfield at 9.15am followed by a pick up on Stockwell Gate in Mansfield at 9.30am. The walk promises to take in some great scenery and on top of that you will be in the perfect company too. Fundraising Fun

On Sunday 18th November from 9.30am – 6pm local Trentbarton Bus Driver, Phil Collison, will be in Mansfield Bus Station raising funds for the Trentbarton charity of the year; The Alzheimer’s Society. He will have some assistance from Stacey Briggs who will be doing glitter tattoos and face painting and there will also be a cake sale, a giant prize draw and lots of freebies for the kids. So, on your way into town for the big Xmas lights switch on why not pay them a visit and get your face painted and maybe even a piece of cake or a mince pie?? All funds raised will be going to the Alzheimer’s Society. Please go along and show your support if you can.  

 

Fundraising Evening

On Friday 23rd November there is a fundraising evening happening at Shirebrook Miners Welfare on Central Drive in Shirebrook. There will be a raffle and an auction with all funds going to help 5 local students from The Shirebrook Academy make a once in a lifetime trip to South Africa in 2019 to be part of a volunteering project out there. In total they need £10,000 and this is one of their first events to get the fundraising off of the ground. Please go along and show your support if you can.    

 

Rainworth Riders Presentation Night

After cycling from their cycle club in Rainworth to Skegness in July to raise money for two charities, Carter Lee’s Journey and The Royal British Legion, the Rainworth Riders are now holding their presentation night where everyone will find out how much they raised and the cheques will be presented to the two charities. Singer, Alex Kyle, will be performing live for your entertainment and there will be a disco too. This is all happening on Saturday 24th November starting at 7.30pm at The Venue (formerly Potters) on Kirklington Road in Rainworth. Admission is free of charge and everyone is invited to go along and join in the celebrations.
