Charity Shop Re-open - Sale Coming This Weekend
Jack Of All Hearts Brain Cancer fundraising shop at 10 Handley Arcade in Mansfield is now re-open. They have recently had a refurbishment in the shop and have lots of new stock on offer. They are having a sale on Friday 7th & Saturday 8th August. Why not go in and see what bargains you can get?? They open at 10am Monday – Saturday and close at 3pm every day apart from Wednesdays when they close at 1pm. All profits go to helping people with brain cancer.
Charity Shop Now Re-open
The Mansfield Sense Charity Shop has now re-opened, they can be found at 42 Westgate in Mansfield and they are open 10am – 4pm Monday – Saturday. They have bargains for everyone and are happy to accept donations now. All donations are quarantined for 72 hours before being thoroughly sanitized and put out onto the shop floor. The staff are very friendly and happy to help. All Covid secure guidelines are being followed including social distancing. They will be looking for new volunteers to help out in the near future so if you are interested why not call in to the shop for a chat. Full PPE and training will be provided to all trainees and staff.
Focus Point Community Support Network
Throughout recent weeks and months the Focus Point in Mansfield Woodhouse have been arranging for their friendly team to help and support local vulnerable, isolated, lonely or unwell people with things such as collecting prescriptions / medicines, getting shopping or just having a chat or putting the bins out for them. They offer lots of different support. The service they offer is free of charge to everyone and is available all of the time, not just whilst the Coronavirus pandemic is happening. At this time of uncertainty and worry throughout the UK and Worldwide please don’t forget to help and support your neighbours. Keep an eye especially on elderly, disabled or vulnerable people living nearby. You may not be able to go in to see them but a chat at 2 metres apart even if it’s through an open window or door might make all the difference to their day and could even save their life. Be kind and thoughtful of your local community at this time.
Nottinghamshire Health Care Needs Research Volunteers
The whole of Nottinghamshire Health Care are involved in a piece of research that is looking at data sharing in the format of an online survey. Participants include staff, volunteers, patients and the public. They really need your help, and your family and friends too if possible. They are looking for people to take part in the online survey and need as many recruits as they can get. It takes about 20 minutes to complete and you can save and come back to it later if needs be.
VERY IMPORTANT Please read the following before you undertake the survey to ensure that it is accredited to Nottinghamshire Health Care - You need to make sure that after you have consented, when you are asked “where did you hear about the study?” You need to answer “from a healthcare provider” and you then need to tick “hospital” and then in the drop down box select Nottinghamshire Health Care Foundation. That will ensure that your results are accredited to Nottinghamshire Health Care.

Pleasley Pit Visitors Centre – Volunteers Needed
Could you spare a few hours each week to help keep the Pleasley Pit Visitors Centre running?? They are mainly looking for help within the cafe whether it is serving customers, washing pots or cooking. They are also looking for other volunteers to assist with the nature reserve and the conservation of the site. There are all kinds of opportunities available. They are currently looking to recruit some new singers, both old and young voices to extend both their repertoire and their reach. The choir performs various times over the course of the year at a variety of functions and events. They recently celebrating their 75th anniversary year and would like some new voices to join them. Your local PDSA shop on Low Street in Sutton in Ashfield needs your donations of clothing, DVD’s. CD’s, bags, shoes etc. The PDSA are the UK’s oldest and largest animal welfare charity. Donations can be dropped off at the shop between 9.30am – 4pm Monday – Saturday; you can drive around to the back of the shop to drop larger donations off at their back door if you wish. Collections can be made locally but must be for 6 bin liners full or more to cover travel costs. Please support your local PDSA charity shop if you can.
The Millside Hospital Radio based at Kings Mill Hospital in Sutton in Ashfield is currently looking for volunteers. The radio station broadcasts 24 hours per day across the wards of the hospital and they are also online. They provide a wide variety of entertainment for inpatients at the hospital. The station is run completely by volunteers and they are currently looking for new radio presenters and other station staff to work behind the scenes. Full training will be given.
