On At The Palace Theatre:
On this Week – Continuing through to 6th January – “Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs” – it’s panto time again at the Palace Theatre and this year’s promises to be one of the best. Back by popular demand is Adam Moss starring as Muddles alongside Sue Holderness (of Only Fools and Horses fame) as The Wicked Queen. It’s a fun filled festive treat for all the family to enjoy.

Would you like to sing in a choir and have a little time to spare each week?? A local choir called The Forest Singers are looking for some new voices to add to their sound. They meet every Thursday from 7.30pm – 9pm at The Treasury on the corner of Pecks Hill and Bolsover Street in Mansfield. They are a small friendly choir that welcomes and supports new members. At the moment they are rehearsing for Christmas but the rest of the year they sing everything from Elvis to Mozart. The “I Love Christmas” Market Is Back
The “I Love Christmas” Market is on now through until 16th December on West Gate in Mansfield. The little Christmas chalets are back by popular demand full of Christmas gifts and treats for all the family. So, whether it’s that special gift you are looking for or a bite to eat whilst shopping just drop by the market and see what’s on offer. The market is open daily from 10am – 5pm and it’s open for late night shopping on Thursday 6th and 13th December.
Ashfield Floral Arts Christmas Demonstration
On Thursday 13th December at 6.45pm the Ashfield Floral Arts Club are holding their Christmas demonstration at the Hosiery Mills Sports & Social Club at The Fieldings in Huthwaite. Beverley Artis is the demonstrator on the night and her theme is ‘Christmas At Tiffany’s’. At the end of the evening all of her display pieces will be raffled off and there will be seasonal refreshments and a tombola too. Everyone is welcome to go along. Community Carol Service
On Thursday 13th December starting at 7pm there is a community carol service taking place at Skegby Methodist Church and Anchor Centre. The Sutton Salvation Army Band will be playing as part of the service too. Everyone is invited to go along, there will be seasonal refreshments too.
The Red Hot Swing Band
On Friday 14th December at 7.30pm The Red Hot Swing Band will be performing live at The Oaklands on Oakfield Lane in Warsop. The event has been organised by the Warsop support group for the John Eastwood Hospice. Tickets are £5 each and are available by calling 01623 842472 or 01623 842126. There will be sherry and mince pies o offer and the bar will be open too. There will also be a sale table and a raffle with all funds going to the John Eastwood Hospice. Everyone is welcome to go along and help support this great cause.
Christmas Tree Festival
On Saturday 15th December from 10am – 6pm & on Sunday 16th December from 11am – 3pm there is a Christmas Tree Festival happening at the Bethel Church on Nottingham Road in Mansfield. The church will be filled with trees that will all be decorated in individual style done by local groups and businesses. There will be entertainment by musicians and singers and there will also be festive refreshments, a tombola and an activity table for youngsters. Everyone is invited to go along and join in the festive fun. Admission is free of charge but a voluntary donation would be most welcome which will be donated to the Kings Mill Hospital Gamma Scanner Appeal.
Children’s Christmas Party
On Saturday 15th December from 2pm – 6pm there is a Members Children’s Christmas Party happening at the Triple S Snooker Club in Skegby. The party is for children under 12 years old, there will be food, refreshments and gifts for all plus the children are welcome to come in Christmas Fancy Dress. Tickets are available from behind the bar and are just £3 per child. Non-members are welcome to go down beforehand and make themselves a member. Sutton Rambling Club – Why Not Join Them For A Walk??
On Sunday 16th December the Sutton Rambling Club will be walking in Derbyshire going from Whatstandwell to Cromford then stopping at the Boat Inn for a buffet lunch. The cost of this extra special walk is £8 per person. The will be a sing song with Alan on the keyboard and accordion before returning to Whatstandwell by following the canal. The £8 must be paid in advance by 8th December but if you wish you can simply turn up on the day to join the walk but not have the buffet lunch. As always there will be a coach available to take walkers to and from the walk, it picks up at The Staff of Life public house in Sutton in Ashfield at 9.15am followed by a pick up on Stockwell Gate in Mansfield at 9.30am.
