Online Community Support – Could They Help You?

The Dunelm Mansfield Community Support Facebook page is run specifically to help and support the community living in and around Mansfield. They do all kinds of things to help others including running giveaways, supporting local businesses and recently they have started a pen pal scheme with the residents of a local care home. Everything they do is for the benefit of people living in and around the area. Why not take a look at their Facebook page, you can also send them a message via the page if you know of anyone or anything they could offer their support to.  Just Giving Page Set Up In Memory Of Inspirational Lady – Donations Needed

A Just Giving page has been set up in memory of Simran Kumari Rattu who passed away earlier this month following a long battle with complex health issues. Everyone who met Simran was inspired by how she coped with the challenges that daily life brought her. Despite such issues Simran was studying for her Masters in Health Psychology at Sheffield Hallam University as well as volunteering for MIND Sheffield and Chilypep. These two charities are the beneficiaries of the Just Giving page. Simran had many friends and family living in and around the Mansfield area. Charity Shop Re-opening

From Monday 17th August the PDSA charity shop on Low Street in Sutton in Ashfield will be open again following the national lockdown. They now have new opening hours and a new way of accepting donations all due to Covid-19. To find out more please give them a call on 01623 554244. Kevin and the team at the shop look forward to seeing all their regular donators and customers again in the coming weeks and months.


Charity Shop Now Re-open

Following a recent refurbishment and the UK lockdown Jack Of All Hearts Brain Cancer Fundraising Shop is now re-open, they are at 10 Handley Arcade in Mansfield and have bargains to suit everyone. They have lots of new stock on offer and follow all Covid secure guidelines. Why not call in and see what you can get?? They are open 10am – 3pm Monday – Saturday apart from Wednesdays when they close at 1pm. All proceeds go to helping people with brain cancer.


Community Support Available

Melanie Wynn is the new Community Champion at the Morrison’s Supermarket in Mansfield Woodhouse. She is trying to find local projects that the store can help and support. So, if you know of, or are part of, a group or organisation of any kind that needs some help why not let Melanie know. It could be a school, charity, a community housing project, a planned community event, a homelessness organisation or anything really that benefits the community. Focus Point Community Support Network

Throughout recent weeks and months the Focus Point in Mansfield Woodhouse have been arranging for their friendly team to help and support local vulnerable, isolated, lonely or unwell people with things such as collecting prescriptions / medicines, getting shopping or just having a chat or putting the bins out for them. They offer lots of different support. The service they offer is free of charge to everyone and is available all of the time, not just whilst the Coronavirus pandemic is happening. Pleasley Pit Visitors Centre – Volunteers Needed

Could you spare a few hours each week to help keep the Pleasley Pit Visitors Centre running?? They are mainly looking for help within the cafe whether it is serving customers, washing pots or cooking. They are also looking for other volunteers to assist with the nature reserve and the conservation of the site. There are all kinds of opportunities available. Singers Required for Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir

Do you think you could sing with the Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir? They are currently looking to recruit some new singers, both old and young voices to extend both their repertoire and their reach. The choir performs various times over the course of the year at a variety of functions and events. They recently celebrating their 75th anniversary year and would like some new voices to join them. Volunteers Needed

The Millside Hospital Radio based at Kings Mill Hospital in Sutton in Ashfield is currently looking for volunteers. The radio station broadcasts 24 hours per day across the wards of the hospital and they are also online. They provide a wide variety of entertainment for inpatients at the hospital. The station is run completely by volunteers and they are currently looking for new radio presenters and other station staff to work behind the scenes. Full training will be given. So, if you fancy getting into radio or helping out behind the scenes why not join this fantastic friendly team and give them a helping hand. Do You Want To Be A Volunteer

Do you have time to be a volunteer?? Being a volunteer looks great on your CV, gives you experiences that last a lifetime and you make some great new friends. The Parkinson’s UK branch in Mansfield is looking for new volunteers to help them run the local branch. They offer support, provide information and put on activities for people with Parkinson’s living in the local area. If you are a good organiser, preferably with some online access then they would love to hear from you. New volunteers receive a full induction and training will be given by existing volunteers.
