A new look Mansfield 103.2 is on the way in 2017
From January Sutton born Mike Bargh is taking over the Mansfield 103.2 breakfast show.
Breakfast with Barghy officially starts on Tuesday January 3rd but you'll be able to hear him warming up between Christmas and New Year, getting used to the early ups!
The former Sutton Academy pupil told Mansfield 103.2, 'I'm really looking forward to the new show and I can't wait to get started. Expect everything you need to kick off your day with a smile including my brand new competition Small Talk. I've been visiting lots of local schools and they can't wait either. I want January to get here as soon as possible so I can wake up with everyone across Mansfield, Ashfield and Bolsover’.
Katie Trinder is leaving the early morning slot after returning to the radio station at the beginning of 2016 but you’ll still be able to hear her on air. She’s moving to a weekend slot so she can concentrate on other projects she’s working on outside of Mansfield 103.2.
Katie told Mansfield 103.2, "I've had an amazing time doing the breakfast show over the last year and it's been a really tough decision to leave, but alongside working at Mansfield 103.2, I'm also the Marketing Director for Dalmatian Systems and the closer we get to launching the more demands there are on my time and I'll be travelling all over the country. Barghy will do an amazing job with the show and I've had a sneaky preview of some of the things he has planned and I know 2017 will be a fabulous year for Mansfield 103.2. I want to wish Barghy the best of luck and pass him on my Big Ben style alarm clock! I for one am looking forward to more than 5 hours sleep a night'.
From January the 8th she’ll be presenting the Sunday Flashback show between 2 – 5.
Mansfield 103.2’s Managing Director Tony Delahunty said, ‘Katie stepped in after returning to the area and has done a really solid job to allow us to explore other areas. We are delighted that she will continue to present programmes on Mansfield 103.2 whilst she pursues her other business projects. Mike has been with the station for over a year now and like all really successful presenters has always aimed at the target of doing the breakfast programme. He comes to the show with bags of experience and I think he will make it a great show to wake up to’.
Mansfield 103.2's Programme Controller Ian Watkins said, 'We have always tried to follow a policy of using local born and bred presenters on the radio station and I'm delighted that the appointment of Mike follows in this tradition. I'm looking forward to working closely with Barghy and wish him all the best'.
