Hopping Around the World with Gary Farmer
6th April, 2013 - World Championships and the Thai recovery It\'s almost a month to the day that I set off to Japan to play in the Sledge Hockey Pool B World Championships. And what a journey it was. Since coming back fromneurope at the end of January I had been training hard so that when I got to Japan I would be at full fitness and ready to give my all for the Great Britain team.
The world championships were fought fiercely but the Great Brtiain team came 3rd to not only earn a bronze medal but also an opportunity to go to the Paralympic qualification tournament in November. A chance to go for another Paralympics is more than anything to me.
After the joys of Japan I had to let my hair down for the final 2 weeks of my year off work. And where better than going back to Thailand. This time going back with a friend who hasn\'t been before, so seeing the sights of Bangkok as well as the southern islands for some epic parties. As I know from previous time spent in Thailand it is a wonderful place. And it was great for me to see the joy it brings to someone new to the country. And for me to enjoy it all again.
Now after the year off work it\'s time to head back. Which I have to admit feels a little surreal. Not quite like I have never been away but close. All those memories, new friends and life changing experiences. How will my future change and what wonders will present themselves, who knows. But the travelling has given me the insite to the person I want to be. And I will strive to achieve it.
