Free Cholesterol Testing For All Adults

  • Sainsbury’s Supermarket on Nottingham Road in Mansfield are offering free cholesterol tests for all adults at their in store pharmacy through until Tuesday 14th February. Simply call into the store and head over to the pharmacy dept where staff will be happy to help you.


My Mansfield My Story

  • Do you have stories of past years in Mansfield and the surrounding areas? Then Mansfield Palace Theatre would like you to share them with their team to help create a new piece of theatrical art.

  • Several My Mansfield My Story sessions have already taken place. The next sessions being held are on Tuesday 7th February. One session is from 4.30pm – 6.30pm at The Turning Point on Ladybrook Lane in Mansfield. The team will be interested in any stories of the Mansfield area but especially in any of the Ladybrook area that people wish to share. The other session on Tuesday will be from 7pm – 9pm at Groucho’s Bar at the Mansfield Palace Theatre in Mansfield. The team are looking for past and present market traders to come along and share their stories fro the market over the years. Everyone welcome.


Challenge Yourself For A Very Worthy Cause

  • Take to the road or to the water or even take to the hills!! Whether it’s great lengths you go to or something a little more modest, Rainbows Hospice For Children & Young People has a challenge for you. You can help raise some much needed funds by taking part in one of their challenges.

  • From a stroll to a marathon or a sky dive to a mountain climb!! There is something to suit every level of fitness, ability and bravery. Intrepid fundraisers are asked to visit the events page on their website to fins a suitable challenge. The website address is www.rainbows.co.uk. With almost 30 challenges to choose from there should be something to suit everyone and every penny raised really does make a difference in a local young person and their family’s lives. Ashfield Floral arts Club

  • On Thursday 9th February starting at 7pm the Ashfield Floral Arts club are holding their first event of 2012. The evening is a social event for everyone to come along to and is being held at the Ashfield Play Forum on Morven Avenue in Sutton in Ashfield. You can come along and make yourself a small flower arrangement if you wish, all that you will need is a few flowers, a small pot and a small piece of oasis. There will also be a quiz, refreshments and a raffle. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun. Admission is £2 for members and £5 for visitors.


Community Coffee Morning

  • On Thursday 9th February from 10am – 2pm the Mansfield Baptist Church (opposite Tesco) is opening its doors for a community coffee morning. They will be serving tea, coffee, cakes and lots of other hot and cold goodies. The coffee morning is taking place every Thursday from now on. A quarter of the money taken from on the morning will be going to a local charity. There will also be light lunches available including jacket potatoes, soups, sandwiches and much more. There will be small business stalls and craft stalls too. Everyone is welcome to come along, there is even a soft play area for smaller children and toddlers. Why not pop in have a drink and relax??


Disco Inferno

  • On Thursday 9th February and every Thursday following from 6.30pm – 8.45pm everyone is invited to come along to a disco inferno evening at The Towers on Botany Avenue in Mansfield. Admission is just £1.50 per person. There will also be a raffle with a fantastic top prize. Everyone is welcome to come along, get down and have a boogie. For any further details please call 01623 439250. People with learning disabilities and special needs are especially welcome to come along and socialize with other people with similar conditions. A great night for all to enjoy!!

Charity Fayre

  • On Friday 10th February from 7pm – 9.30pm there will be a charity fayre held at the Portland Hall Hotel on Carr Bank Park in Mansfield. On the night there will be lots of stalls, including beauty treatments and products, hand made gift cards and jewellery, special jams and chutneys and lots more. Admission is £3 per person which includes a free glass of wine or a soft drink. There will be a raffle on the night too. Profits made are going to the local breast cancer care charity. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the evening.


The Stags – February Half Term

  • From Monday 13th – Friday 17th February (excluding Thursday 16th) from 8.30am – 5.30pm everyday Mansfield Town FC will be holding football coaching sessions for children aged 6-11 and 12-14 years. Both buys and girls are welcome. The cost is just £12 per child per day. There will also be a Little Kickers event at Field Mill on Monday 13th February from 10am – 11am for children aged 4-5 years, the cost for this session is just £2 per child. Also on Thursday 16th February they are taking a bus trip to both Man Utd FC and Man City FC for official stadium tours at both grounds. This trip is for children aged 6-14 years.
