Two Edwinstowe men walk home from London for local hospice.
Two men from Edwinstowe took on the challenge of walking over 150 miles from London to Edwinstowe, to raise money for the John Eastwood Hospice.
Brian Hawkins and Michael Dickenson have now raised almost £250,000 for the hospice through their huge charity walks.
Last year they walked over 30 miles in a day, as part of Mansfield 103.2’s charity auction, however on this challenge they had to walk more than five times the distance.
Brian said: “We are not getting any younger, and these walks are taking more of a toll on us each time. The generous and continued support we have been forunate to have received over the years drives us on.”
Michael said: “Brian’s wife passed away at the hospice in 2004, and he started walking, just a one-off to start with, and then I joined him in 2006, so we’ve been doing it together for 10 years.”
Michael also said they wanted to smash the £250,000 milestone, and push to raise more funds for the hospice: “We’ll keep going until we can’t walk. It’s hard, but we do enjoy it.”
