Support Available For Alcoholism Sufferers at Christmas

A charity in our area are keeping their services open over the Christmas period, to help people who suffer from alcoholism and substance abuse, and to support their families.

Hetty's work in Nottinghamshire to support sufferers and their families, and operate a free confidential helpline, and it's a service they expect to be busy over the festive period. Their Chief Executive Debbie Knowles said “A lot of other services are shut over Christmas, so we may get extra calls from people who have had drink problems in the past, who may feel a little nervous when everyone's drinking around them at social events.”

Over Christmas, Hetty's are also asking people to sign up to their monthly donation scheme, in place of sending Christmas Cards. The money raised through this will help to keep their helpline running, which can be reached by calling 08000 850941. The helpline is open every day, including Christmas Day, between 9am and 7pm.
