Stags back home to face Stevenage

28th October 2016

Stags back home to face Stevenage

Mansfield Town return to the One Call Stadium this weekend where they take on Stevenage in League Two.

The Stags are in eleventh spot, a point away from the play-off zone, and are unbeaten in over a month.

But, boss Adam Murray admits there is still a lot of work to be done before he is satisfied with how his team is developing this season.

And, with Mansfield back at home on Saturday, he knows their form on their own patch – just nine points picked up from their seven games so far – must improve.

However, he insists home results are not as important as they used to be as teams are picking up more points on their travels than in the past.

Murray said: “There was only one or two home wins in our division last weekend.

“I think out of the whole three leagues, about 34 or 35 games, there were only eight home wins and, the week before that, it was around the same number.

“In the modern game, players are more aware, fans are more aware.

“And, obviously managers and coaches are a lot more aware that the away performances now see sides want to use the home team’s so called advantage and strength as their weakness.”

The Stags have a clean bill of health for the clash with Stevenage with defender George Taft back in training but midfielder Jamie McGuire is unlikely to be risked following his leg injury.
