Sports Direct Bosses Deny MP “Bugging” Claim
Senior Figures at Sports Direct HQ in Shirebrook, have denied any knowledge of a recording device, which a group of MPs claim they found during a surprise visit to the site yesterday morning.
The Business and Energy select committee arrived at the factory yesterday and claim to have found a secret camera, filming a private meeting about the Sports Retailers treatment of it’s staff.
After the meeting at the Shirebrook base, MPs say a woman who brought them sandwiches left a camera in the room underneath a stool.
Labour MP Iain Wright has since spoken to company boss Mike Ashley, who wasn’t present at yesterday’s surprise visit, on the phone “If he’s going to start recording our secret deliberations, why is he doing that? What is he frightened of, why does he have that lack of trust when we’ve offered to work with him in an open and constructive manner”
Mr Wright continued, adding he felt Sports Direct bosses had something to hide
“The controlling and obsessive manner in which they move things, the diversionary tactics so we didn’t get to see some of the warehouses for a good couple of hours, they were taking us on long routes”
