Sights turn to Tokyo for Paralympic stars

Sights turn to Tokyo for Paralympic stars

Our area's Paralympic stars, Oliver Hynd and Charlotte Henshaw, are already looking ahead to the next games in Tokyo in 2020 despite just returning from a successful competition in Rio. Hynd came back with two gold medals and a silver whilst Henshaw added bronze to her collection as they once again brought joy in the swimming pool for Team GB.

21-year-old Hynd is determined to defend his titles in Japan, telling Mansfield 103.2: “As Rio got closer, the more I realised that I want to keep going on. “You can sometimes forget how great the Games are until you're out there. Having experienced that, I'm really motivated to go for four more years.” Henshaw, meanwhile, is 29 but is not ruling anything out, saying: “I'm not getting any younger and four years is a long time to commit to Tokyo. “I still love the sport and I've always said that, as long as I love it, I will keep competing. “But, at this moment, I don't know if I'm going to be swimming in four years time.”
