RUGBY PREVIEW | Nottingham v Ealing Trailfinders
Fourth place takes on second at The Bay this Sunday as Nottingham Rugby look to pick-up their third straight Greene King IPA Championship home win as high-flying Ealing Trailfinders visit NG2 (3pm kick-off).
After last weekend’s disappointing 30-12 defeat at the hands of Bedford Blues, head coach Ian Costello has made six changes to his starting XV, as the Green & Whites prepare to try and topple a Trailfinders team that has lost just one game so far this season.
Loosehead prop James Penman is handed his first start in Nottingham colours, whilst dual-reg Wasps tighthead Will Stuart is also added to the front row. Club captain Matt Everard also makes his first start, since last month’s B&I Cup clash with Bedford.
Along the backline, David Williams makes a return to the left wing, in place of the absent Joe Cobden, whilst Gearoid Lyons and Sean Scanlon are slotted back in at centre and fullback respectively.
After starting at Goldington Road last Friday night, prop Rory Burke, flanker Jordan Coghlan and centre Vili Hakalo all have to settle for a spot amongst the replacements this time around.
Honours were even in the two meetings between the sides last season, with a brace from Vili Hakalo and the boot of Mich Lam helping the Green and Whites to a 17-13 home win last November, whist Ealing exacted their revenge in a 59-12 victory at Trailfinders Sports Ground, back in March.
Team to face Ealing Trailfinders: 15) Sean Scanlon, 14) Billy Robinson, 13) Oli Evans, 12) Gearoid Lyons, 11) David Williams, 10) Tiff Eden, 9) Darryl Veenendaal, 1) James Penman, 2) Jimmy Stevens, 3) Will Stuart, 4) Tom Holmes, 5) Danny Qualter, 6) Ben Morris, 7) Matt Everard (C), 8) Shane Buckley.
