Reminder to Nottinghamshire residents on importance of Recycling
The company who handle household waste for residents in Nottinghamshire are reminding residents on the importance of recycling as part of national recycling week. (12th to 18th Sep)
163,000 tonnes of household waste recycled last year alone in in the county, however county councillors and waste management experts believe more could be done.
Items such as aerosol cans, yoghurt pots, shampoo bottles and toilet roll tubes are often missed, and experts from Veolia are calling such objects ‘the unusual subjects.’
Lea Hawkes, General Manager for Veolia Nottinghamshire said: “Recycling is already making a big difference thanks to the dedication of Nottinghamshire residents. Recycling is important, as it saves energy which helps the environment, so it’s great to keep up the good work!”
Councillor Jim Creamer, Chairman of the County Council’s environment and sustainability committee said: “This week is a great reminder to think about all the things around the house which may be overlooked for recycling – as it all goes towards making our county even greener and making the best use of resources.”
