Portland College's Brand New Cycle Trail Launched Today

Portland College's Brand New Cycle Trail Launched Today
Tuesday 27th September sees the official launch of the brand new 'Portland Trail'; a new 11.5 mile trail between Portland College and Sherwood Pines.
The project aims to get more people cycling on the relatively easy trail between two Coffee Shops, 11.5 miles apart from each other. People are able to hire and leave their bikes at either stop.
A fully inclusive 4 wheel trike will also be available for members of the public to hire.
David Powney, Catering Manager at Portland College said; ‘As a keen cyclist myself, I am delighted that this partnership has come to fruition. The cycle route is perfect for all ages and abilities and with the added bonus of being able to hire bikes at both ends of the trail, there is no excuse for anyone to get on a bike! Reward yourself at the end with a delicious piece of cake from the Coffee Shop again at either end of the trail!!’
All monies raised by Portland with all enterprises such as this one, are ploughed back into the College.
For many of the residents of Mansfield and Ashfield, Portland College has been recognised for the past 60 years as a provider of first-class education, care and training for disabled people.
The College's coffee shop , based on Nottingham Road in Mansfield, is open to the public 7 days a week, providing tea, coffee, cold drinks, cakes and light refreshments all year round.
All monies raised by Portland with all enterprises such as this one, are ploughed back into the College.
