Panthers prepare for CHL knockout stage with final group match

10th October 2017

Nottingham Panthers play their final group game of the Champions Hockey League tonight, already confirmed as table toppers and qualified for the knockout stage.

Corey Neilson's side became the first British team ever to make it through the round-robin stage of the competition with a win over Finnish side TPS Turku last week - and results elsewhere meant that they were guaranteed first place.

The Panthers have travelled to Finland for the reverse fixture with Turku and, although nothing rides on the match, captain Steve Lee still wants to end the group stage on a high.

He said: "We want to carry on as we've been going, keep the momentum going and try and get another win here.

"We've had some great success, the boys have really come together and it's been a pretty special journey for us."

The Panthers are at full strength for the game with new signing Patrick Galbraith available and set to make his debut in goal with Sam Gospel as his deputy netminder.
