One in One out as Stags are held at Hartlepool
Mansfield Town were held to a goalless draw at Hartlepool United this afternoon but were rocked by the departure of midfielder Adam Chapman, who departs the club via mutual consent.
The 26 year old midfielder has been on the side-lines through injury recently but in the weeks leading up to his injury, had face heavy criticism from the One Call Stadium faithful.
Boss Adam Murray said the decision to release Chapman, was one of the toughest he’s had to make as a manager
“It’s been tough for me; I’ve known the kid for 12, 13 years. We just felt it wasn’t working he’s somebody that needs to play with confidence, in an environment where he can express himself. We had a conversation between us as a football club and him as an individual and came to the agreement that it was best to go our separate ways, a fresh start for both of us”
Murray moved swiftly to add midfielder Oscar Goburn to the squad and the former QPR man who departed loftus road in the summer made his debut as a half time substitute at Hartlepool today.
Speaking of the addition of Goburn, Murray said “midfield wise we are down to the bare bones, Oscars not played a competitive game for a while but when he came on what he did for the team was get on the ball and made us tick”.
Next up for Mansfield is the home match with Grimsby Town next weekend, which kicks off at the earlier time of 12.15pm
