Murray praises McGuire's contribution to squad
Mansfield Town boss Adam Murray says that midfielder Jamie McGuire's bulldog spirit is invaluable to the squad.
The 32-year-old's in his fourth season at the Stags and has emerged as one of the supporters' favourite players, winning the fans' Player of the Month award for September. Murray admits he used to hate coming up against McGuire in their midfield battles during his playing career.
He said: "We had some scraps. We used to poke each other in the eyes and stuff. "Then, when we played together, you appreciate what he does and as I've stepped on to this side [of management] my relationship with him has become very close. "He's probably one of my right-hand men in the changing rooms."
McGuire has been forced to sit out the last two games at home to Wycombe Wanderers and at Luton Town due to a leg injury picked up in training.
