Murray considers future after Stags defeat

It will have been a weekend of deep contemplation for Mansfield Town boss Adam Murray.

He admitted he was considering his future as manager following what he called “personal abuse” from some fans after Saturday's home defeat to Stevenage.

Speaking to Mansfield 103.2 after the 2-1 loss, Murray said: "I'm not one of these guys that will stand around and pick a wage up - I'd rather go and work as a plumber or something.

"I'm about the success, the ability to win fights and if I feel that it's unwinnable then I'm not going to stay around for the crack.

"It's not worth the unhappiness that seems to follow."

The Stags are thirteenth in League Two, just three points off the play-off spots but also only four points above the relegation zone in what is a very tight division.

There is now a break from league matches with an FA Cup First Round tie at home to division leaders Plymouth Argyle on Saturday followed by a trip to face Derby County U23s next Tuesday in the last of their EFL Trophy group matches.
