Mansfield Cab Drivers Set For Crunch Council Meeting

Independent Hackney Carriage drivers from Mansfield will have the opportunity to put their views and arguments to Mansfield District Council tomorrow, in a meeting between council representatives and a newly formed group representing the self-employed drivers.

The meeting comes after months of arguments between drivers and the council for issues surrounding the cab rank on Queen Street, just down from the New Bus Station, which include drivers being handed penalty points for alleged breaches of the Councils Penalty Points System.

Further issues relate to Queens Walk, an area where when the cab rank is full, drivers have parked waiting for a space and subsequent fare.

A meeting will be held at the Civic Centre tomorrow morning (Wednesday 25th October) at 10am where the Councils Chair of the Licensing Committee Councillor Walker along with local ward councillors will meet with the Drivers’ group – a spokesman for the group told Mansfield 103.2 News that any independent drivers are encouraged to go along to the meeting, and have their say on the issue.
