Mansfield & Ashfield’s Homeless Community To Receive Vital Outreach Support
Rough sleepers in Mansfield and Ashfield will start to receive more outreach support, following a combination of funding support from Nottinghamshire County Council and Framework.
The homelessness charity will deliver the new, expanded service across the next two years – a huge boost to the areas homeless, after the local street outreach has been cut back in the previous three years.
Andrew Redfearn, the Chief-Executive of Framework, said “Recently we established an outreach worker (For Mansfield) and we’re going to be able to turn that into a team now, which will cover not just Mansfield but also other areas.”
“That means several things, firstly – we can actually meet people literally on the street, discover people sleeping rough, find people who we may not have known were sleeping rough by expanding our reach, and then really doing full housing and support assessments.”
“We still need access to suitable accommodation and there’s a shortage of that, but this is a great start and something we’ll be able to sustain for at least the next two years which is great news”
