Mansfield All Set For The Big Switch On 2016
Mansfield’s spectacular Christmas light switch on event is all set to take place this Sunday with a packed schedule of festive fun.
There will be plenty of free entertainment starting at 11am throughout the whole town.
The main stage show itself begins at 3.30pm in the Market Place and is filled with musical entertainment from Soul Rhythm and Katie Markham. There will also be appearances from stars of the Palace Theatre’s pantomime, Peter Pan and a special sing along with The Snowman™.
One lucky child, the winner of the VIP package auction, will come up on stage at 5pm to switch on the lights and set off a magical firework display. Don’t forget to place your bids with Mansfield 103.2 this week if you want to win this fabulous opportunity. All proceeds go to the Kings Mill Toy Appeal.
This year the town has a 34ft Norway Spruce Christmas tree in the Market Place that has been sponsored by the Mansfield 2020 business community group. It will be illuminated at the switch on show on Sunday. Executive Mayor at Mansfield District Council, Kate Allsop, said: “With only a few days to go, we are all getting excited about the launch of Christmas in Mansfield. “It really will be a spectacular day of fun and excitement for all the family so make sure you wrap up warm and join us this Sunday.”
