Fresh Concern for Road Safety following a Nottinghamshire increase
Road safety campaigners are calling on more to be done following a 13% increase in the number of Children hurt in road accidents last year.
In 2015, 331 youngsters aged 15 or younger were hurt in road accidents across the county, of which one died as a result of their injuries.
And following analysis of those statistics, which revealed Mansfield to have the largest increase within Nottinghamshire – campaigners are working hard to spread the road safety message.
Mansfield road safety campaigner Neil Cooper said “People aren’t aware enough that youngsters can still run out in front of cars and being aware that there are children around is something a lot of people don’t do.”
“When you see people driving past school using mobile phones and exceeding what is the recommended speed limit for that school – they’re not specially aware that children might run out in front of them”
