Fracking Ban should Labour win election

Fracking Ban should Labour win election
Labour has announced it will ban Fracking, should the group win the next general election – according to Shadow energy and climate change secretary Barry Gardiner.
Speaking at the party’s annual conference in Liverpool, Mr Gardiner said that a Labour government would introduce an “outright ban” on the controversial practice.
Speaking during the conference, he said "Fracking locks us into an energy infrastructure that is based on fossil fuels long after our country needs to have moved to renewables. The next Labour government will back the clean technologies of the future.”
Shlomo Dowen is a local resident and environmental campaigner, speaking of the announcement he said “it’s very exciting to hear about the details of re-powering Britain, in particular the calls for a complete ban of fracking in Britan. Re-powering is about empowering not only resident to be able to switch their lights on but to also have a voice and a say on how our energy works in this Country.
“I think its reasonable for people in Nottinghamshire to be quite concerned over the current conservative government’s attitude towards protecting the environment, and it’s such a relief to see that there is a commitment to protect the environment that seems to be emerging”
