Forest Road Friends Lend A Hand To Keep The Park Green

The Friends of Forest Road Park have provided two new "doggie waste bag" dispensers to help dog walkers who might find themselves short of bags when walking their dogs.
The project has been funded by the Friends Group with support from Mansfield District and Nottinghamshire County Councillors Ward Allowances. The group believe their initiative is the first of its type to be introduced in Mansfield.
Rick Yates from the Park Group said: "With fines for dog fouling in Mansfield parks on the increase, we believe this initiative will help all residents and visitors to the park to understand the need for 'bagging up' after your dog"
Pete Riley from the Group insisted: "There is now no excuse to allow your dog to litter in our Park, with plenty of bins available.”
The Friends Group will be maintaining the dispensers and replenishing bags as and when required and look forward to residents making use of the facility which have been placed at both entrances to the park.
Denise Ciarleglio, Neighbourhood Warden at Mansfield District Council said:
“This is a great community initiative and we are very grateful to the Friends Group for their generous support in helping to make sure that Forest Road Park remains a pleasant place for the whole community to enjoy.
“While the Friends Group has said that it will replenish stocks of doggie bags, dog owners shouldn’t rely on its generosity. They still need to take their normal supplies of doggie bags with them and clear up after their dogs. The dispensers and bags are an added extra to help should dog owners find they are short while out walking.”
Dog walkers are reminded that if they are asked by a neighbourhood warden if they are carrying doggie bags, they must be able to produce them.
