Forest beaten by Norwich as defensive errors cost the Reds

Nottingham Forest five game unbeaten run came to an end this afternoon after they were beaten 2-1 by Norwich City at the City Ground.

The Reds were given an early let off when goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic brilliant saved Wes Hoolahan’s penalty on thirty-five minutes. The save proved to be pivotal for Forest who five minutes later took the lead  when Apostolos Vellios converted from close range.

After the break the visitors upped the ante and levelled the match on fifty-two minutes when Johnny Howson made the most of a defensive mix-uo to convert from a narrow angle – Graham Dorrens netted what proved to be the winner fifteen minutes later.

Forest boss Philippe Montainer said his side must accept their mistakes “In the first half we had a good control of the game but that went away in the second half. We made too many mistakes with the ball and once again we've conceded two goals which is not good enough, especially at home. Norwich had eight shots on target today and we had two so that is not acceptable. That has been the difference today because we have not done well enough at either end of the pitch. They're a good side but we left it too late."

Nottingham Forest must move on quickly, as they face Premier League Arsenal in the EPL Cup on Tuesday evening.
