Mansfield Town boss Steve Evans has confirmed rumours on social media that the Stags have been interested in signing Blackpool striker Jack Redshaw.
However, a deal for the 26-year-old which could have also included a move to the League Two rivals for a Mansfield player was unable to be completed ahead of Saturday's 0-0 draw at Notts County.
Speaking at Monday's press conference, Evans says that they have not yet resumed their approach for Redshaw.
But, he added that it does not mean the possible transfer is dead as far as he is concerned.
Elsewhere, it is hoped that a deal for another player can be completed either Monday evening or on Tuesday whilst the number of new faces could be as many as three by the time Mansfield make the League Two trip to Cambridge United on Saturday.
Meanwhile, there is a second match against Notts County in four days when the Reserves take on the Magpies in the Central League Cup at Rainworth Miners Welfare's Kirklington Road ground on Tuesday afternoon, kick-off 2pm.
Evans told Mansfield 103.2 that a number of first team players who have not featured in recent matches will take some part in the game.
