Did You See Assault Which Left Man With Puncture Wounds To His Chest?
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after reports of a serious assault in Mansfield overnight which left a man in his twenties with puncture wounds to his chest.
Nottinghamshire Police were called to Recreation Street, Mansfield at around 8.45pm on Wednesday (15 July 2020) to a report that the victim – a 24-year-old man – was being treated by ambulance crews for the wounds and for lacerations to his head.
Police officers and ambulance crews both attended before the man was taken to Nottingham’s Queen's Medical Centre by ambulance for treatment for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening or altering.
Detective Sergeant Mark Shaw from Nottinghamshire Police, who is investigating the incident, said: "Our teams have been actively investigating this incident since the time it was first reported. Those enquiries remain at a very early stage and we are urging anyone with any information to come forward and speak to us about this incident.
"What happened to this young man is abhorrent and we want to send a clear message that we are treating this incident seriously, that we are working hard to track down those responsible, that the case will be investigated thoroughly and that such behaviour will not be tolerated in our county.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 758 of 15 July 2020.
