Dalestorth Primary In Top 1%

14th March 2018
News, Ashfield

Dalestorth Primary & Nursery School is based in Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire and has shown why it has such long-standing rating of ‘Outstanding’ from OFSTED through some of the best results in the country.

The school’s Key Stage 2 assessments that took place in 2017 were a massive success for the school and pupils alike as 100% of the children reached or exceeded the expected standard in both writing and mathematics. This impressive feat puts the school in the top 1% of all primary schools across England for these subjects.

Dalestorth School has shown great dedication from its entire staff to help the children to achieve these incredible results, ensuring they get the best possible foundation for the rest of their education and their lives beyond that.

Head Teacher Sally Stafford said “The results are fabulous and we are all highly delighted. Our school is a happy, friendly family unit and everyone works extremely hard together – staff, pupils and parents, to achieve what we do here. In 2006, Dalestorth Primary went from the bottom 5% in the country to the top 5% and has remained there ever since. From being awarded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2007, the team has never faltered, continually providing the very best academic, social and emotional provision for our children. Children are encouraged every step of the way and every success is celebrated. There is a shared expectation here that everyone will achieve the very best and every child is valued and catered for to be able to do this and achieve beyond their goals. I count myself very fortunate to be Head Teacher of such a hard working school. I am very proud of everyone”.

The school recently received a congratulatory letter from the Minister of State for School Standards, Nick Gibb MP, which gave credit to the schools “hard work and professionalism”. Dalestorth School has always been committed to nurturing caring relationships and fostering the social, emotional and physical well being of every child as well as striving for academic success, and this certainly seems to be paying off.

There is immense pride in the achievements of the school throughout the staff, parents and children. Chair of Governors Jo Wain said “Ms Stafford is an exceptional head who leads a team of outstanding teachers and teaching assistants, of whom we are immensely proud. They are committed to supporting and nurturing our children to be the very best they can be. In turn the children flourish, are inspired with a love of learning and the ambition to do well”.
