Charity Match Raises Over £15K
The Charity Football match between the Kevin Bird’s Mansfield Town XI and Once Upon A Smile has raised over £15,000 for two charities – the club have confirmed.
The match took place last month and saw a number of Mansfield Town legends go head to head with TV Soap Stars and Celebrities, raising money for The Alzheimer’s Society and Once Upon A Smile.
Former Stags’ stars such as Richie Barker, Wayne Corden and Tom Naylor returned for the match organised by former Chesterfield striker Phil Walker in honour of Mansfield Town club legend Kevin Bird, who sadly suffers from Dementia.
A total of £15,100 was raised and will be split between the two charities. Further details about the match and the charities who benefitted can be heard in our ‘News In Focus’ program, broadcast in the build up to the game – click HERE to listen.
