Chancellor To Prioritise House-Building
Speaking at the Conservative Party Conference Chancellor Philip Hammond says spending money on new homes and transport will be his priority.
Sherwood MP Mark Spencer says it is a progression on what has already been set up, “I think what he is saying is that right to buy was right for the time in helping those people get on the houses that existed, we can do better than that, we can build more homes in the right locations for young people to get on and that will solve the problem as we moved forwards”
Phillip Hammond said he will be doing this as opposed to following his predecessor George Osborne's aim to balance the books by 2020.
He believes caution must still be taken with the ‘eye wateringly large’ deficit following the UK’s decision to leave the EU and the consequent triggering of ‘Article 50’.
5 billion pounds will be used to tackle Britain’s housing crisis by accelerating building projects of at least 40,000 new properties.
