Care Company Fined Over A Million Pounds.

9th September 2016

Care Company Fined Over A Million Pounds.

Embrace All Ltd was fined 1.5 million pounds and its manager Amanda Dean given 9 months imprisonment suspended for 2 years after an elderly resident with dementia died after falling down unlit fire escape stairs.

The charges against the firm were for failing to ensure the safety of resident George Chicken at Rose Court Lodge care home on Sutton Road.

Having denied their guilt since the investigation began, the company pleaded guilty to charges four days into a trial in July.

The Judge found that culpability in the case of both defendants was high with a serious risk of causing serious injury or death.

Mansfield Districts Council’s Chief Executive Bev Smith said, “Ms. Dean’s poor management had exposed vulnerable residents. It is imperative that we stand up for the most vulnerable in our community and ensure that the best quality of care is provided at crucial times in their lives.”

Ms. Smith added, “We will not tolerate any care that falls below an acceptable standard or puts our residents at risk”

The case arose after officers from Mansfield District Council investigated a fatal fall at the home on the 4th of November in 2012.
