Brexit negotiations could cost UK economy £65 million per year

The prime minister's being criticised for keeping quiet about negotiations over the UK's departure from the EU.

A report by the Institute of Government says planning for it could cost 65
million pounds a year.

The researchers also predict 500 more civil servants will need to be hired.

However, International trade secretary Liam Fox is convinced negotiators will reach a good deal , and it will be worth it.

He said: “It’s in everybody’s interests that as we move forward, we have at least as free a trading environment as we have today.”

“Anything else may not harm the politicians and the insitutions, but it will harm the people of Europe.”

However Sid Pepper, who is a UKIP campaigner based in Mansfield believes people are already getting tired of waiting for the government negotiate a Brexit deal.

He said: “If you watch an of the political programs on television, they all go back to moaning about it and saying they don’t accept it.

“It’s complete and utter nonsense, the government is not delivering what the people of this country wanted, which was Brexit. It’s all smoke and mirrors, and they need to start negotiating.”
